Yateley Ladies II 1 Petersfield Ladies 3: BOTH teams were eager to gain the points from the last game of the season to finalise their positon as high up the league as possible.

Petersfield opened the scoring. The ball was driven out of defence by Eddy, who passed it to Eaton on the right wing. She weaved left and right up to the edge of the Yateley D and hit the ball hard at the goal. Simmons received it on the outside of the left post, hit it on her reverse stick and it flew into the goal. Yateley immediately responded by going on the offensive, and Petersfield’s defenders had to deal with a multitude of attacks. Eventually Yateley’s efforts paid off and they were awarded a short corner from which they equalised. Petersfield responded in force and Eddy, Hedges and Eaton pushed up into the Yateley goal, where Hedges was fouled. Petersfield were awarded a penalty flick. A calm and composed Freya Eddy stepped up to the mark and fired the ball into the goal. In the last two minutes of the first half Yateley earned a short corner. Yateley passed the ball to the top of the D where the striker received it and flicked it up towards the goalie. Martin leapt into the air and at full stretch she deflected the ball over the goal.

The second half was hard fought with both teams desperate to secure the win. The action flowed from end to end, with both defences working overtime. In the last quarter of the game Llewellyn took the ball out of the Petersfield goalmouth and passed it to Ivey in the middle of the pitch. Ivey linked up with Powell and they worked the ball up to the Yateley D. Powell kept control of the ball and slammed it past the goalie. The final score was 3-1 to Petersfield and this meant they finished in fifth place in Hampshire Division 3.
