PETERSFIELD Ladies started their year with a 5-3 win at Hamble Ladies’ second team.

Petersfield were missing their regular keeper and were also a player short.

The visitors took the lead early on from their first short corner. Bardoe injected to O’Kelly, and neat first-time touches from O’Kelly and S Bardoe found Eames, who had a clear sight of goal and scored.

Petersfield doubled their lead when J Bardoe drove into the D and transferred the ball to S Bardoe, who deflected it past the goalkeeper.

Hamble pulled a goal back from a penalty flick. Easton stepped into goal, and the Hamble player whipped the ball into the bottom left corner to make it 2-1.

Petersfield scored their third goal from a short corner. S Bardoe injected the ball to Easton, and her strike zipped past the running defenders and drummed into the back-board to give the visitors a 3-1 lead at half time.

The visitors scored their fourth goal early in the second half. The ball was injected into the D from the left wing by S Bardoe, and O’Kelly picked up the ball on the baseline and went for goal. The keeper’s clearance lifted the ball straight up and O’Kelly hit the ball into the back of the net.

Hamble then grew into the game and they pulled two goals back to make it 4-3.

Petersfield scored the final goal. Eames took it on herself to run the ball from the baseline. She moved the ball around the opposition and lined herself up in the D to fire the ball past the goalkeeper.
