Petersfield Ladies 2 Havant Ladies III 0: PETERSFIELD Ladies played at home to Havant Ladies’ third team at Dunhurst School on Saturday.

The match was Petersfield’s first since their Christmas break, and it marked the start of the second half of the season.

The game was very even early on, and both teams were keen to take control of possession and stamp their authority on the match.

Petersfield played to their strengths and moved the ball around between their players, making it hard for the visitors to defend.

On a transfer from left to right, Sinclair shot a ball across the D from the top right corner of the pitch, where Hedges was poised to deflect the ball past the keeper and give Petersfield a 1-0 lead with five minutes to go before half time.

As the second half got under way Petersfield didn’t sit back. Knowing their lead was narrow the home side pushed forward and kept their intensity up.

This opened up a bit of space for Havant to attack, but Petersfield’s defensive line of Llewelyn, Cullen and Todd didn’t falter, with Cullen making some crucial tackles to feed the ball back up the pitch to the home side’s attacking line.

Petersfield had the visitors on the back foot, and this left a space for Sinclair to take on Havant’s keeper and put away the second goal of the game to increase the home team’s lead.

Petersfield showed incredible composure and encouraging team work to secure the win.
