Petersfield Ladies 2 Southampton Ladies III 1: PETERSFIELD Ladies’ first team played Southampton Ladies’ third team at Bedales on Saturday.

Petersfield started well and placed Southampton under consistent pressure with six back-to-back long corners awarded to the home side.

Petersfield played the ball around in the D and Jen Sinclair fed a ball in from the right wing which was picked up on the base line just outside the right-hand post and scooped in between the goalie and the post by Rymer to give the hosts the lead.

Southampton got the second half under way and opted for an attacking first push, but Petersfield intercepted the ball from midfield before turning the attack back on the away team.

Petersfield passed the ball cleanly into the D and went for goal, but they were denied by a Southampton foot on the line. The hosts were awarded a penalty flick for the foul, but Jas Sinclair’s effort just missed the top left corner of the goal and Southampton had the push out.

Jen Sinclair had three shots saved by the Southampton goalie, but her fourth effort was flicked over the keeper and into the goal.

Southampton had a strike on goal late on which was deflected away from the goalie. A Petersfield defender was in the trajectory and a short corner was awarded for contact with her foot.

The whistle blew for the end of the match and the short corner would be completed for the last play of the game. Southampton scored and the match finished 2-1.
