Petersfield Ladies II 2 Gosport Borough Ladies II 2: PETERSFIELD Ladies’ second team had to change pitches and match time at the last minute due to the heavy rainfall on Thursday, which saw the team lose a few strong substitutes.

After two back-to-back promotions Petersfield faced their first game in Division 4. Gosport Borough Ladies’ second team started very strongly, and for a few minutes Petersfield looked a little overwhelmed. Sinclair and L Rymer took control in the midfield to pull the team back together.

After 15 minutes Petersfield were back to their old game, attacking Gosport from all angles, although the Gosport keeper succeeded in keeping the ball well away from the backboard. A well-placed cross from E Rymer, who was playing her first senior match, gave O’Kelly senior all she needed to put Petersfield ahead.

Gosport lost their concentration after this first goal and S Rymer battled with the keeper to convert a second goal soon after. With a two-goal lead Petersfield let their guard down and allowed Gosport to attack. A resulting penalty corner was converted just before half time.

The second half was a much slower game, as it became obvious both sides struggled with fitness in this first match of the season. Petersfield had several more chances, but the Gosport keeper showed tremendous skill. A sudden break from Gosport led to two attackers taking on Petersfield goalkeeper O’Kelly junior, leading to an equaliser.
