Basingstoke Ladies IV 2 Petersfield Ladies II 3: PETERSFIELD Ladies’ second team started with a two-minute silence before their game on Armistice Day.

With only 11 players, the second team had to get their heads in the game for what promised to be a competitive mid-table match.

Petersfield started positively and scored two goals in the first half.

The first goal arrived when Eaton’s shot was deflected into the goal.

The second goal came when a cross found Lowe, who doubled Petersfield’s advantage.

The visitors managed to keep the majority of the possession at the end of the first half, and Pearson made a number of saves to keep Petersfield’s clean sheet intact.

Playing on a slippery pitch added an extra challenge to the second half, and Basingstoke pulled a goal back.

Petersfield were unperturbed by that setback and Powell managed to score after a cross from Purkiss.

Basingstoke scored a second goal to make the score 3-2, but Petersfield held on for the win.

Petersfield Ladies’ second team are now in fifth place in the Hampshire Division 4 (women) table.
