Havant Ladies III 3 Petersfield Ladies 2: PETERSFIELD Ladies’ first team faced off against Havant Ladies’ third team at Burnaby Road on Saturday.

Petersfield failed to get to grips with the game early on, and Havant kept the pressure on and opened the scoring.

The visitors responded by upping their intensity and putting pressure on the Havant back line, and Petersfield got their reward when Sinclair struck the ball into the back of the goal.

In the last few minutes of the first half Havant drilled a set play ball across the D, and their unmarked forward tapped it in to give the home side a 2-1 lead at half time.

Petersfield started the second half and Rymer persistently hassled the Havant defence, shaking up the back line to allow an opening for Sinclair to once again score a goal for Petersfield.

The visitors had possession for the majority of the second half and attacked the Havant D as the minutes counted down.

Petersfield were unable to make their pressure count though, and Havant made them pay when they scored on the counter attack with five minutes to go.

Petersfield Ladies are now in sixth place in the Hampshire Division 3 (Women) table with five matches left this season.

The team will hope to bounce back in their next match, which is at home to Haslemere Ladies’ third team at 4.15pm on Saturday.

Petersfield will be hoping to complete the double after winning 5-0 against Haslemere earlier this season.
