Winchester Ladies II 2 Petersfield Ladies 0: PETERSFIELD Ladies knew they faced a tough challenge on Saturday against Winchester Ladies’ second team.

Winchester showed their speed and skill from the beginning of the match.

The home side went on the attack but were held at bay by Petersfield, who had adopted a defensive formation.

This strategy worked for a large proportion of the first half but as Petersfield tired, only some fine saves by keeper Martin helped keep the score at 0-0.

However, just before the end of the first half Winchester were awarded a short corner which they scored from.

Petersfield created some scoring opportunities in the second half, but none of these opportunities led to the visitors scoring.

Winchester continued to be the stronger side in attack and they broke through the Petersfield defence on many occasions in the second half, only to be stopped from scoring again by keeper Martin.

Winchester’s perseverance paid off and they scored their second goal from another short corner to secure a 2-0 win.
