Southampton Ladies III 1 Petersfield Ladies 6: PETERSFIELD Ladies’ first team started the season with a convincing win away at Southampton.

At the beginning of the game both teams were evenly matched, and both goalkeepers had to make some good saves to keep the score at 0-0.

Petersfield started to dominate in the latter part of the first half, and Clare, Sinclair, and Llewelyn Junior all scored before half time.

Petersfield started the second half strongly, but the hosts absorbed the pressure well and went on the counter attack.

They cleared the ball from their defensive circle, right up the pitch to their centre half.

She collected the ball at the half way line, skilfully dribbling around a number of Petersfield defenders, before passing the ball off to her centre forward, who flicked it past the keeper.

Southampton upped the pace and speed of their attacks, but Petersfield’s defence held firm.

Petersfield’s forwards continued to put the Southampton defence under pressure and this eventually resulted in Powell, Sinclair and Clare scoring a further three goals for the visitors to make it 6-1 to Petersfield.
