Petersfield Ladies III 2 Trojans Ladies V 1: PETERSFIELD Ladies’ third team won an entertaining match against Trojans Ladies’ fifth team.

Trojans had the upper hand for the first quarter, and the home side relied on Amesbury, S Rymer and Todd to keep the visitors’ attackers at bay.

Petersfield struck first following an exchange between Geer and Roberts in the attacking left quarter of the pitch. Anderson received the ball and neatly guided a pass into the path of Roberts, who tipped the ball over the visiting goalkeeper’s leg.

Trojans responded positively and equalised just two minutes later. Despite Hardwick putting pressure on the midfield the determined opposition gathered momentum and struck the Petersfield backboard to get back on level terms at 1-1.

Five minutes before the half time whistle I Wilson fed the ball to Bardoe, who returned the pass to an expectant I Wilson. I Wilson struck the ball with confidence and picked out a well-placed Roberts, who shot past the goalkeeper to put Petersfield 2-1 ahead.

Trojans came out forcefully after the break, driving Petersfield deep into their own half. H Wilson, E Rymer and Chandler fought hard in the centre to dispossess the ambitious visitors.

Houghton made some valuable clearances as Petersfield held on to their lead.

Trojans won a short corner, but Houghton, S Rymer and Todd dealt with it and Petersfield eventually cleared the ball to seal a deserved victory.
