PETERSFIELD’S ladies’ first team continued their fine start to the season with a 5-2 win against Aldershot and Farnham Ladies’ third team on Saturday.

Aldershot and Farnham started strongly and stole possession from Petersfield quickly from the push back.

The visitors pinned Petersfield back, and from an attack down the left wing the ball was deflected to an unmarked forward in front of goal and Aldershot opened the scoring.

Petersfield were quick to put the pressure back on the visitors and an attack up the right wing by Hegan led to a short corner. S Bardoe passed to Wilson, who fired it back to the baseline, and S Bardoe deflected the ball past the keeper to make it 1-1.

Llewelyn, Briggs and Todd held firm as a back three, leaving Petersfield keeper Jones with not much to do.

The home side kept the majority of the possession and worked well down both channels. It wasn’t long before Petersfield took the lead, when J Bardoe was poised in front of the goal and scored.

The last goal of the half came from R Leach, who scored to give Petersfield a 3-1 lead at half time.

Petersfield extended their lead in the second half after winning a short corner. S Bardoe injected to Eames, and her effort beat the visiting keeper at her near post.

Aldershot and Farnham then found themselves on the front foot with a break away attack, and some last-ditch defending led to a short corner for the visitors.

Despite strong defensive running from Petersfield, Aldershot and Farnham managed to play the ball across the D and around the keeper to slot the ball inside the right-hand post and make it 4-2.

The home side responded well to the setback and went back on the attack, and S Bardoe’s quick first-time strike made it 5-2 and sealed the game for Petersfield a few minutes before the end of play.

Petersfield Ladies now have two wins from two matches so far this season, and they will look to continue their good form when they travel to Fareham Ladies’ third team on Saturday.
