Petersfield 3 Bournemouth II 3: PETERSFIELD hosted high-flying Bournemouth, who were relegated from Division One last season and look to be strong contenders for a promotion spot.

Bournemouth had begun the 2016/17 campaign undefeated while Petersfield had three wins and three losses.

Petersfield broke the deadlock early on. The hosts capitalised on a weak pass in midfield, intercepted the ball and quickly countered down the left flank where Macfarlane cut inside the circle and placed the ball into the bottom corner.

Petersfield got caught inside their defensive circle and Bournemouth equalised after their penalty corner strike clipped Clay’s stick and edged over the line.

Petersfield regained the lead when J Atkinson thumped his penalty corner strike past the Bournemouth keeper.

Bournemouth became frustrated in the second half and their players became familiar with the sin-bin area.

Petersfield took advantage and extended their lead to 3-1 when Atkinson scored with a solo effort.

Bournemouth dug in and attacked the heart of the Petersfield defence. The visitors scored two goals, levelling the scores at 3-3 with 15 minutes remaining.

Further frustration from Bournemouth saw men walk to the sin-bin once again.

Petersfield gambled with a high press in a late bid to steal the win, but Bournemouth were resilient and played out the last few minutes to earn a draw.
