Petersfield 3 Fareham IV 3: PETERSFIELD hosted third-placed Fareham in a competitive fixture.

Petersfield were missing three first team regulars, including keeper Matt Ross. Right back Paul Vickers volunteered to put on the pads despite having only 30 minutes of goalkeeping experience.

Fareham started with the ball and held possession well and tested Petersfield in all areas. The hosts held their own and nearly caught Fareham out with a number of counters. Fareham broke the deadlock when a close reverse shot flew passed the inexperienced Vickers after the attacker sprinted off his marker. The visitors soon doubled their lead with a penalty corner goal despite Petersfield continuing to create opportunities. Petersfield were rewarded for their efforts as two Harris goals meant the hosts were level at half time.

Fareham regained the lead after the interval when a counter attack overloaded Petersfield’s defence. The hosts responded again with a penalty corner goal with a Harris drag flick. Petersfield continued to press forward for a winning goal, but the points were shared. Petersfield remain in second place in the league.
