Basingstoke II 3 Petersfield 3: PETERSFIELD started with possession and the game soon developed into a midfield battle.

An interception by Grinstead in midfield soon found Edwards, who struck the ball at the keeper and Hughes-Stanton picked up the rebound and gave Petersfield the advantage.

Basingstoke battled away and equalised from a penalty corner routine.

Petersfield keeper Ross then found himself in trouble after he brought down a striker in the circle and was sent to the sinbin.

Basingstoke had a penalty flick and scored to go 2-1 ahead with Petersfield reduced to ten men.

Petersfield kept possession throughout the duration of the sinbin and levelled the scores at 2-2 as Harris flicked the ball into the top right corner from a penalty corner set piece to draw an action-packed first half to a close.

The second half saw much of the same, with players sent to the sinbin from both squads after continuous battles in the midfield.

Petersfield stole the lead for a second time with another Harris goal before Basingstoke levelled with a few minutes left on the clock.

With an end to end battle from both teams in the last moments of the game, the final whistle fell and both teams took a well-deserved point from the match.

The draw means Petersfield remain in sixth place in Hampshire Division 2 with a game in hand against Winchester’s third team to play.

Petersfield’s next match is at home to Gosport at Bedales School on Saturday.
