A PETERSFIELD man is celebrating after winning a race at the British Motorcycle Racing Club’s Brands Hatch GP.

James Peake (36) has been a keen fan of bikes for a number of years, and he achieved some impressive results earlier this month.

The first race of the weekend was won by Max Morgan. Peake was in second place, but he was overtaken by Alex Barker just before the line and had to settle for a third-place finish.

Peake improved his final position in his second race, finishing second behind Morgan, and it was the same story in the third race, where Peake again finished second behind Morgan.

Morgan was unable to take part in the fourth race, as he broke down on the warm-up lap, and Peake sensed a chance of victory.

Peake got round Barker on the first lap, before overtaking Nick Whitcher to take the lead.

Peake managed to build a gap and keep it, although he missed a gear on the last corner of the last lap.

He managed to keep his composure though and crossed the line in first place.

A delighted Peake said: “This was my first ever win, which I dedicate to my partner Sanda Petakovic for putting up with all this racing and me spending money left, right and centre on it.

“Thanks also to all my racing friends for the advice and laughs we’ve had, and last but not least my parents for the cash injections and tyres.”
