PETERSFIELD Hockey Club’s men’s first team picked up their first league win of the season against Gillingham.
The home side played a much-changed team against a young Gillingham side.
Petersfield started well and their focused attacking hockey was rewarded with an early well-worked goal which was tucked in at the back post by Cooke-Priest.
The home team continued to play strong attacking hockey, scoring two more goals in the first half to lead 3-1 at the break.
Clay marshalled the defence well and fought off a revitalised Gillingham side, who pinned Petersfield back in their own half for much of the second half, clawing back three more goals.
The hosts managed to hang on to their lead by scoring twice more to finish 5-4 winners at the end of the game.
Petersfield play Gillingham again on Saturday in the return match.
