Petersfield 3 Salisbury II 0: PETERSFIELD hosted Salisbury’s second team, who were bottom of the league.

Petersfield piled on the pressure and bombarded the Salisbury defence with waves of attack. J Atkinson got his name on the scoreboard after an undercut thundered into the top right corner.

The game had to be paused due to an injury to the Salisbury keeper, who immediately received treatment.

Salisbury started to take control of possession and worked their way up to the Petersfield circle. The Petersfield defence of Rye, W Atkinson, Clay and Anderson worked well as a unit and prevented Salisbury creating any clear cut chances.

Grinstead doubled Petersfield’s advantage when he converted the rebound from J Atkinson’s shot on goal.

Salisbury won a penalty stroke when W Atkinson took the attacker after a looping aerial pass found him on the back foot. Keeper Ross executed a fine diving save to his right-hand side, keeping the score at 2-0 at half time.

Ross made a fine save from a penalty corner before Petersfield added another goal. Good build-up and movement off the ball saw a move down the right hand side finished by Hughes-Stanton with a lob over the oncoming goalkeeper.

In the latter stages a Salisbury attacker got behind Clay and Clay and received a sin-bin for his efforts to recover.

The hosts re-shuffled their team and played the remaining time out to claim a 3-0 victory and three points which leave Petersfield in fifth place in Hampshire Area Division 2.
