PETERSFIELD Rugby Club’s under-14s emerged victorious at the Alton Sevens with a dominant display.

They breezed through the group stages with two substantial wins against Andover B and Tadley. In the semi final they went two scores down to a strong Andover A side, but they came back to win by four tries to two.

The final was against local rivals Alton and Petersfield stormed into a two-try lead before Alton pulled one back. Petersfield then scored again to make it three scores to one. The tuning point of the game came from the resulting kick-off when an Alton player mistimed his tackle and took a player out in the air. Alton were promptly reduced to six for the rest of the game. Petersfield went on to win by five scores to two and lift the trophy.

Petersfield also entered a second team who also enjoyed the day, making it to the plate final before narrowly losing to Tadley by four scores to two.
