PETERSFIELD Rugby Club’s under-eight’s won the county crown on home soil when the club hosted the under-sevens and under-eights Hampshire County Rugby Championships at the weekend.

Aldershot Town extend unbeaten run to seven games with Braintree Town winPetersfield welcomed around 20 clubs, made up of close to 40 teams over both age groups, from across the county to Penns Place for a bonanza day of rugby.
It was a day of closely fought battles and drawn scorelines in the under-eights category. Teams played in four pool matches to determine semi finalists for the Vase, Shield, Bowl, Plate and Cup finals.
At the end of the day Petersfield’s under-eight side met Havant in a fast paced Cup final, showcasing some impressive tag rugby from both sides. The supporters were kept on their toes with both teams delivering end-to-end rugby. Petersfield pulled ahead in the final quarter, and stepped up to secure a 5-3 victory to win the title.
