Poole 3 Petersfield 2: PETERSFIELD travelled to Poole on a brisk morning.

Poole had the best chances in the first half and Petersfield keeper Smith made some fine clearing saves. Harding then made a goal line save after keeper Smith had been passed as the teams went in at half time with the scores level at 0-0.

Petersfield took control in the second half and won a penalty flick. Hughes-Stanton stepped up to the mark, but the Poole keeper palmed the penalty flick away.

Poole then took the lead, but Petersfield soon equalised when J Atkinson deflected a Hawkins through ball past the keeper.

The home side regained the lead with another goal, but Petersfield responded with waves of attack involving Marlow and Rye.

Poole conceded a string of penalty corners, and the visitors equalised with a well-worked routine which saw Rye score his first goal for Petersfield in three years.

The home side responded well though and won a penalty flick. Smith saved the penalty flick, but Poole pressed on and scored their third goal soon afterwards.

Petersfield pushed for another equaliser and a Poole defender received a yellow card when he refused to let Petersfield take a free hit before his team regrouped.

Petersfield won a penalty corner on the final whistle but Vickers’ attempt went wide of the goal as the hosts held on for the win.

Petersfield remain in third place in Hampshire Division 2, and they will host Salisbury’s second team at 1.15pm on Saturday.
