Hamble 3 Petersfield 1: PETERSFIELD travelled away to second-placed Hamble on Saturday.

Hamble piled on the pressure early on with wave after wave of attacks, but Petersfield managed to keep their hosts at bay.

Petersfield then created some chances on the counter attack, and both teams battled away in the midfield.

Hamble took the lead when a mistake in the circle gave the hosts the opportunity to finish a rebound from a penalty corner routine.

Petersfield continued to battle away, tackling with aggression and shifting the direction of play.

Petersfield then got themselves back on level terms when Atkinson’s shot on goal flew into the top right corner after a move down the left involving Hind, Terry and Atkinson. The teams continued to battle it out until half time, when the scores were level at 1-1.

Hamble regained their lead in the second half to go 2-1 up. Petersfield remained strong though and broke up a number of Hamble attacks. The visitors then enjoyed a spell of pressure and came close to another equaliser.

Petersfield continued to press on and Hamble were able to pick gaps in Petersfield’s defence and exploit them. The visitors blocked Hamble out once again, but they were undone by a loose ball as Hamble scored again to seal their 3-1 victory.

Petersfield will be looking to bounce back and return to winning ways when they host Basingstoke’s second team, who are bottom of the league, at Dunhurst School at 1.15pm on Saturday.
