PETERSFIELD Table Tennis Club (PTTC) A Team finished top of Division 1 of the Haslemere and District Table Tennis Association League by seven points.
The title sealed a superb performance by the team and captain Tim Hampton.
They got off to a flyer at the start of the season with new signing Jon Tolontan making an impact, although he was only available for the first three matches.
Accident prone Ross Lingard broke his wrist playing football, which was a huge setback for the team with half the season remaining.
Jonathan Graham filled in and kept title hopes alive, improving with every match. Patrick Garlick then joined the club and showed what he was made of.
The team were still desperately short of players, and matches from March onwards were held together by Hampton and players from all corners of the league.
Hampton and Garlick lost their unbeaten records in the last match, when Fernhurst’s Dave Steel beat everyone.
Hampton has also been playing in the Portsmouth League all season, where he was also part of the Portsmouth TT Club ‘Purple’ Division 1 winning team.
The PTTC A Team players this season were: Tim Hampton, Ross Lingard, Jon Tolontan, Jonathan Graham, Patrick Garlick, Julian Hawkins, Rob Gresham, Chris Bates, Keith Madeley, Sue Hartwell, Simon Green, Tim Wood and Steve Bartholomew.
