PETERSFIELD Triathlon Club’s members have earned some impressive results.
At Bucklers Hard in the New Forest, Kim King and Kate Smith both came second in their respective age categories.
King and Smith both competed in the standard distance comprising a 1,500m open water swim, 40km bike ride and 10km run, and the two Petersfield team-mates had an exciting race between themselves.
Smith exited the water first with King hot on her tail. King then left the transition first, with Smith following swiftly behind. The bike ride had two laps of a mainly flat course, with New Forest ponies littering the road.
A quick turnaround in the transition kept King ahead of Smith, although Smith overtook her Petersfield team-mate in the last kilometre of the run and she eventually finished one minute ahead of King.
At the Worthing Triathlon and European Qualifier Linda Robbins came fifth in her age category. David Robbins was 11th in his age category, and Jenny Phillips was fourth in her age category. They completed the sprint distance, which comprised a 750m sea swim, a 21km undulating bike ride and a 5km promenade run.
Rachel Jarvis, Chris Turner and Julie Gadsden competed at the Eton Dorney Triathlon, completing the sprint distance which comprised a 750m swim, a 21.2km bike ride and a 5km run.
