Petersfield v Haslemere
ASHURST Evening League champions Petersfield managed to pull victory out of the jaws of almost certain defeat in a thrilling cup final against Haslemere, played last week at the Heath.
Batting first, Petersfield lost Barnes and Skilton early but opener Broadhurst and skipper Blanks first consolidated then injected some momentum into the innings in a 64-run partnership for the third wicket.
Haslemere's Hooker then broke through, clean bowling Broadhurst for 45, closely followed by the departure of Blanks (21), bowled by Smithers, and the visitors were right back in the match.
Wickets fell at regular intervals as Field attempted to push on, but the tail wagged with the last two wickets adding 30 runs, including a straight six into the trees by Thomas....
