Petersfield under-14 Boys 4 Aldershot & Farnham 1: WITH eight wins and only one loss Petersfield were already uncatchable at the top of the league.
The decisive final victory was merely icing on the cake for what has been Petersfield’s most successful under-14 boys’ team ever.
Petersfield dominated possession from the start but despite wave after wave of attack couldn’t convert the many opportunities they created.
It was only a matter of time before the pressure paid off with three goals in quick succession from James Hill, Ollie Slingsby and Tom Cooke-Priest.
The match tempo was fast with both teams battling hard for every ball but Petersfield’s teamwork, skill and fitness were too much for Aldershot and Farnham.
The ball rarely left the opposition’s half and the relentless pressure saw Gus Roberts on the end of goal number four from a passing masterclass with almost every Petersfield player having a hand in the build-up.
Against the run of play a last minute goal from a penalty corner for the visitors was a small consolation for their efforts.
But the day belonged to Petersfield, who finished the season in style.
