Haslemere under-14 Boys 1 Petersfield under-14 Boys 2: HAVING taken a two-goal lead in the first six minutes, Petersfield hung on for a 2-1 win thanks to three excellent saves from Weller.

Typically slow starters, Petersfield came firing out of the blocks. In the third minute Giles drove into the D from the right and found E White with his pull back. E White deflected the ball across the face of the goal for brother M White to slam it in from close range.

Only three minutes later, Petersfield doubled their lead after Bardoe forced the ball through to M White deep on the left of the D. M White reversed the ball across the area for brother E White to convert from two yards out.

More passing hockey led to a number of other first-half chances, most notably when the ball was worked through the team from inside their own half to eventually find Wilks on the top left of the D. He slotted the ball past the keeper, but his shot sailed just wide.

Weller then made the first of his excellent saves, clearing a firmly-struck short corner.

Haslemere pulled a goal back ten minutes into the second half with a fine strike into the bottom corner.

The second half descended into a scrappy affair with Hegan standing out for his constant harrying, tackling and interceptions.

The final ten minutes were very nervy for the visitors with Weller kicking clear on two occasions when a goal looked likely.

Petersfield hung on though to claim only the second win of the season.
