Petersfield under-14 Boys 2 Fleet & Ewshot under-14 Boys 1: A SOLID start bought Petersfield a short corner ten minutes into the first half.

The execution was good but the umpire disallowed the goal. Fleet took advantage from the 16-yard hit, and while Petersfield tried to gather themselves, Fleet scored at the other end.

Petersfield then dominated play with slick passing around the pitch. Wave after wave of attack kept the Fleet keeper and defence under pressure with multiple crosses, shots and near misses. Just before the break, Petersfield were rewarded for their surging efforts with a tidy goal from Cooke-Priest.

Petersfield mounted attack after attack in the second half, but couldn’t convert their chances. Fleet countered, leading to a series of short corners from which they too thought they had scored, only to be denied by the umpire’s decision.

Petersfield continued to attack in the last 20 minutes and hit the post twice. With the minutes ticking away Petersfield surged forward again, and Beckley slotted home the winning goal to finish off a well-worked series of passes.
