Petersfield under-15 Pirates 6 Winklebury under-15 Wizards 5: AFTER winning promotion to the North East Hampshire Youth League under-15 Premier Division last season as Division 1 champions, the Pirates started life in the top division with a win against Winklebury Wizards.

After a tight first 20 minutes Winklebury scored three goals to put the Pirates on the back foot. However, just before half time Adam Turner scored his first goal for the club.

The Pirates started the second half well and Will McKechnie’s goal made it 3-2. The visitors soon went 4-2 ahead, but the Pirates reduced the deficit through Tom Chads.

The Wizards re-established their two-goal advantage with 20 minutes to go, but the Pirates came back with a goal from Tom Wilcox and a second from Turner.

The winner came with under five minutes left when Chads cut through the Winklebury defence to hit a powerful shot that the goalkeeper parried into the net.
