Petersfield under-15 67 Fareham Heathens under-15 0: PETERSFIELD under-15s put their season back on track with their best performance to date in demolishing Fareham Heathens at Penns Place.

Field started with intent, the pack immediately smashing up the middle with Hickman to the fore enabling Cox to crash over, Matthews converting.

Hards and Castle took the restart ball and good interplay between Curry and Kay led to a five-metre scrum. Cox secured the ball and drove over, Matthews again converting.

The pack continued to dominate possession and with the likes of Samango-Turner tackling everything that moved Field’s defence was as potent as their attack.

Matthews chased his own long kick and, catching and dispossessing the Heathens fullback, touched down before adding the extras.

Heathens held for a few minutes but the onslaught continued; Dodds and Robinson creating space for Cummings to crash over.

A rehearsed move involving Tribe bursting down the middle set Field away again. The ball recycled three times before finding Hards who went over, Matthews converting.

The first half finished with a break by Lee down the left and a fine run in and out by Carroll to touch down in the corner.

There was no let-up in the second half. Hickman, supported by Chads, allowed Matthews to break down the left to score.

From a scrum against the head Cummings scored his second try, Mathews converting.

Heathens riposted with some fine play but Field’s defence held firm and countered with the try of the season so far.

Chads broke from a maul, feeding Matthews, and the backs and forwards interchanged. Tribe hit the line at pace, and Castle took the ball on. Nine phases of play ensued before the ball came out to Carroll who drew the fullback before releasing Johnstone who scored in the corner.

The game finished as it had begun as Cox muscled his way over for a hat-trick.
