Petersfield under-15s 7 Andover under-15s 43: PETERSFIELD’S under-15s faced Andover in their first game in the Hampshire League.

It was an aggressive start from both teams with some ferocious tackling from Field in the opening minutes setting the tempo for the rest of the match.

After several phases of good defence from Field, Andover spread the ball wide to score in the corner before adding the extras. On 22 minutes, Field were again caught out on the overlap and conceded another in the corner.

Within a few minutes Andover repeated the move to score their third try of the half.

Once back in control of the ball, Field’s Housden was set up for a 50-metre sprint, only to be brought down illegally by a high tackle. Field took a quick tap from the ensuing penalty but were turned over just short of the line.

Some profligate control by Andover allowed the ball to pop out of the ruck, allowing Brockwell to dive over the whitewash and score Field’s first try of the season.

The second half saw countless errors by both sides, however, Andover finished strong, scoring another three tries to win the game 43-7.
