Eastleigh under-15s 28 Petersfield under-15s 42: PETERSFIELD under-15s continued their winning start to the season with an impressive win against Eastleigh.

With a few key players missing through injury, Field welcomed Ayres to the front row and Johnston and Burt to the back division with Lee also making his debut.

Field started sluggishly with Eastleigh dominating territory and possession and they were in command of the game when they opened the scoring with a penalty.

They immediately added to the score with a well taken try off the back of a scrum and some poor tackling from the visitors.

Matthews rallied his team and they struck back when Burt was given some space and he raced through to touch down.

Eastleigh scored a try of their own, but Field reduced the gap to a single point before the break as Janku scored following some good work by Samengo-Turner and Castle at the line out.

Field started the second half brightly and were rewarded when Cummings bashed his way through, and they further increased their lead when Land dummied his way over.

Eastleigh were not to be beaten and capitalised on Field’s lack of structure to score two further well worked tries.

Field put the game beyond reach as Cummings touched down again following a line break by Lee and some good interplay between Barden and Johnston. Burt then scored his second to finish the game.

Matthews converted the six tries as Field ran out comfortable winners – although a more structured approach will be required if they are to progress in their league this season.
