PETERSFIELD Hockey Club’s under-eight team showed that the future of the club is in good hands, as they dominated the south coast club tournament in impressive style.
Petersfield’s under-eights were unbeaten throughout the tournament, winning four and drawing one of the five matches they played at Hamble.
Determined and organised at the back, Petersfield’s success was based on a solid defence marshalled by Charlie Cooper and Drew Wigginton.
Coolly mopping up any threat, the back two provided a solid platform for Petersfield’s technically sound and talented midfield of Ottillie Morrogh, Harry Cleife, Isla Bain and Madeleine McNeill.
Working as a unit and understanding their roles within the team, Petersfield were able to launch multiple attacks.
The flair and finishing touches were then provided by the attacking trio of Max Oatley, Noah Wood and Sylvie Cleife.
The team grew into the tournament, displaying a good understanding of the team game, and they finished the day with a commanding 6-0 win against Havant.
The under-eight team is coached by Dan Cleife, and training for Petersfield Hockey Club’s mini section takes place at Bedales School on Sundays from 9.30am to 10.45am.
