Curley Park Rangers under-nine Eagles 1 Petersfield under-nine Boca Juniors 2: PETERSFIELD under-nine Boca Juniors capped off a fine season by scooping the North East Hampshire League Division 6 cup.

Bocas, sponsored by Bourne Estate Agents, beat Curley Park Rangers Eagles 2-1 in an evenly contested game at Frimley Lodge.

This is Boca’s first piece of silverware, expunging the disappointment of a cup final defeat earlier in the season.

The win will bring particular satisfaction to manager Richard Lawrence who has overseen an improvement so rapid it would make Leicester City scratch their heads.

Saturday’s final was the last match of a season that has provided 17 wins out of 23 played, a record unimaginable last year.

In driving rain Boca’s started brightly and some crisp passing eventually led to the first goal of the game from raiding left-winger Stone. However, Curley Park rallied and levelled just before the break.

After half time the Surrey side were on top and Petersfield had to defend for long periods, but again calm play and clever passing allowed them to spring several dangerous counter attacks.

One such move saw fox-in-the-box Bhattacharjee seize on a loose ball and steer Bocas back in front.
