Petersfield Veterans 9 Chichester Friars 2: PETERSFIELD Veterans put Chichester to the sword, largely due to Pruden’s seven-goal performance.
However, the game didn’t start well for the home side, with Chichester going ahead early on through a nicely worked penalty corner following Broadmeadow’s clearance unerringly finding Morley’s foot.
Petersfield responded immediately through Casabianca’s dogged work on the right wing, giving Pruden a straightforward tap in at the far post.
It didn’t take long for Petersfield to take the lead, when Wheeler converted from close range after a penalty corner broke down.
Pruden’s second was a sharp finish under the keeper from close range, and this was followed by reverse stick shots from the left for his third and fourth goals.
Chichester pulled one back just before half time when some slick passing gave space for the unchallenged centre-forward to lift a reverse stick flick over the Petersfield keeper.
The visitors started the second half strongly and it took some good work from Broadmeadow in the Petersfield goal and some poor finishing for the hosts to maintain their advantage.
Cleife’s passing regularly gave Petersfield chances, and Pruden smashed two more reverse-stick shots into the goal. The last ten minutes saw Pruden score his seventh, a rasping head high shot to the right of the keeper, and this was followed by Hulme’s powerful flick from Cleife’s pass.
