Petersfield Veterans 4 Guildford Veterans 2: PETERSFIELD Veterans had to dig deep to turn round a first half deficit to maintain their winning run.

With the injured Pruden on the bench and Budden and Cleife absent, Petersfield seemed to lack the subtlety to find the back of the net.

Rowland went off injured after 15 minutes, raising further alarm bells.

In one of their rare forays into the Petersfield D, Guildford bundled the ball home in a goalmouth scramble.

The home side dominated the remainder of the first half, but they could not score, with numerous chances continuing to go begging.

Pruden came on at the beginning of the second half to act as a static target, but did find some mobility to stretch the Guildford defence.

Hulme’s influence was growing all the time and eventually Petersfield broke through. Hulme picked the ball up from the wide left in his own half and sliced through the Guildford defence to cross to Dryden-Brownlee from the edge of the D, who guided the ball home at the far post.

Petersfield’s attack became a lot cannier, drawing a number of penalty corners, rather than looking for the spectacular. The first was fluffed, but Thompson thumped the next two home in the space of three minutes.

Macintyre and Williams also began to dominate the right hand side and Hulme converted Pruden’s cross at another penalty corner.

Guildford pulled a goal back in the final play of the match through a fortuitous penalty flick.
