Andover Diamonds 0 Petersfield Veterans 5: PETERSFIELD Veterans rediscovered champagne hockey in a fine performance against Andover Diamonds.

Petersfield started in dominant mood and White opened the scoring in the second minute, finishing off a neatly worked penalty corner. Hulme, White and Cleife were running the Andover defence ragged and Hulme doubled Petersfield’s advantage on ten minutes.

Petersfield worked the substitutions well, keeping the attack fresh.

Pruden scored the third after 20 minutes with a trademark pick up on the right side of the D followed by a traverse across the top of the D and a chest-high reverse stick shot that evaded the Andover keeper.

At the beginning of the second half Petersfield lost their way a little, frequently turning the ball over in search of a slide-rule pass. Petersfield responded well to this drop in performance, with Parker and Dryden-Brownlee’s ceaseless running drawing the Andover defence wide to allow Pruden and Cleife space in the middle.

The pressure eventually told when Rowland came up from the back and buried Cleife’s delightful pass. Dryden-Brownlee completed the scoring when he received Hulme’s pass on the bye-line, dribbled the ball towards the goal and calmly slotted the ball home at the far post.

The 5-0 scoreline far from flattered Petersfield, and it would have been a much larger margin if the away side were more clinical in front of goal.
