Petersfield Veterans 3 Portsmouth & Southsea Veterans 0: ALTHOUGH totally dominant in the semi final against Portsmouth and Southsea, Petersfield struggled to get the ball across the line.
Cleife’s missed open goal in the third minute typified this inability to score, and the Portsmouth keeper also made a string of outstanding saves.
Portsmouth looked dangerous in their rare attacks, crashing the ball into the Petersfield D, but Cornelius, Budden, MacIntyre and Wilson kept them at bay.
The scores were still level ten minutes into the second half, when Cleife received the ball close to the bye-line on the left, ran hard at goal, side-stepped the keeper and slammed the ball into the bottom corner. Cleife scored a second, taking a precise pass from Cunliffe and driving it home.
Petersfield’s place in the final was secured through White’s intelligent flick over the Portsmouth keeper giving them a commanding 3-0 win.
