Petersfield Colts 7 Ellingham &?Ringwood Colts 0: PETERSFIELD Colts continued their preparation for the league with a fine win in a friendly against a team from the league above them, Ellingham and Ringwood.

It was not too long before the ball was moved through the hands to Hirst who crossed the line out wide and had the presence of mind to cut back towards the posts before grounding the ball. Matthews obliged by converting the kick.

Field spurned numerous opportunities to extend their lead in the remainder of the first half by choosing to kick away possession.

The same pattern of play continued into the second half. Field had the chance to secure a second try but chose to take the ball into contact rather than to the open wing and the Ellingham defence swallowed up the attack.

Ellingham also made numerous opportunities for themselves, and Shirley made a try saving tackle for Field.

Ellingham continued to press and in the last ten minutes they looked the more likely team to score.

Field were forced to hold back several determined Ellingham attacks on their own try line, but they managed to hold on.
