PETERSFIELD has a new national champion in the sport of trampolining.

Molly Loveridge jumped her way to a gold medal in the Level Four, 13-plus Women Double Mini Trampoline (DMT) competition at the British Gymnastics NDP National Finals, held at the International Centre in Telford.

Her title wasn’t the only success enjoyed at the nationals by the Xcel Gymnastics Trampoline and DMT squad, which trains at The Petersfield School (TPS).

Andrew Lewis, a student at TPS, took the silver medal in the 11 to 12 years Level Three trampoline competition and Connor Hitchcock took bronze in the Level Two 11 to 12 years category.

Nathaniel Allman was fourth in the Level Five, 15- plus years section, Matthew Hughes finished fifth in the Level Four 13-plus years event and Eryn Butler was sixth in the Level Two 11 to 12 years trampolining.

To get to the national finals, all of the competitors had to go through a series of regional and national qualifying events to take part.

Eight of the squad were selected to represent the south in the Regional Team competition in Peterborough earlier in the summer, which saw the team take third place in the UK and six of the club’s competitors qualified to take part in the finals.

Xcel was represented in the National League for the first time by Nuala Smith and Kerry Worsfold. During last month’s event in Hull, Worsfold won a gold medal in the disabilities category and Smith gained gold and silver medals in the League 3, 17 to 18 ladies trampoline and DMT contests respectively.
