PETERSFIELD man James Peake produced another solid showing in the British Motorcycle Racing Club (BMRC) championships.

Peake was in action at the fifth round of this year’s championships, held at Snetterton.

The weekend started with testing on the Friday.

The weather was good to start with for testing, and Peake finished the afternoon in the two minutes five seconds area. But then the heavens started to open and Peake decided to call it a day and get ready for qualifying on the Saturday morning.

Qualifying had a mixture of dry and wet weather. Peake opted to go out in wet tyres and had little grip and finished 12th in his class and at the back of the grid.

There were 40mph gusts of wind for the first race on the Saturday as the lights went out. It was also lashing it down with rain, and Peake decided to bring the bike home safely and finished the race ninth in his class.

In the second race on the Saturday the wind and rain had eased and a dry line had formed on the track. Peake started to attack more and came home in tenth position.

Conditions were dry for the first race on the Sunday. Peake decided to attack the race and finished fourth.

The weekend ended with the second race on the Sunday. Peake was involved in many battles throughout the race and came home in fifth place, and he put in his best lap time of the weekend at two minutes four seconds.

Peake will next be in action in the sixth round of the BMRC championships, which will be held at Brands Hatch on July 13-14.
