Bournemouth III 2 Petersfield 1: PETERSFIELD travelled to Bournemouth’s third team hoping to end their run of away defeats.
They started with the push back and passed the ball around to settle any pre-game nerves and worries about the bouncy surface.
Petersfield created some early chances with the Bournemouth keeper reacting swiftly to deny Edwards, Hughes-Stanton and Hind.
The visitors took the lead when development player Francis beat the keeper after Edwards’ shot was saved.
Bournemouth quickly equalised after Petersfield pressed too high and got caught on the counter, making the score 1-1 at half time.
Petersfield began to control the game and look the better side, and the visitors worked effectively and created many more opportunities for their strikers.
Petersfield took their time while going forward, stretching the play and luring Bournemouth’s defence out of the circle to find a way in.
Bournemouth then went on the attack and won with a penalty corner, which after a series of attempts was struck past keeper Ross to give the home side the lead.
Bournemouth began to play with a spring in their step, but Petersfield stayed strong. Petersfield created more chances but were unable to find the net before the final whistle was blown.
Petersfield now sit in sixth place in the league table and face the league leaders, Bournemouth’s second team, in their next fixture at Bedales School on Saturday.
