PETERSFIELD Hockey Club’s men’s second team picked up a comprehensive 9-2 victory against Havant’s fifth team on Saturday.

The teams met on a sunny Saturday afternoon.

The game got off to a quick start, with Havant firing two goals into the back of the net within the first five minutes, despite some good diving saves from Black.

Petersfield then shook themselves awake and started to take control, with Havant conceding a short corner.

King slipped it to Cleife, who fired it into the goal.

This was quickly followed up with a lovely run up the right hand-side by Harris who, after some barging from Havant, kept the ball and drove it into the D before scoring with an impressive effort to make it all square at 2-2.

Another short corner followed, this time from Cleife to King, who put Petersfield ahead. The goals kept coming, and the next one was finished nicely by J Cooke-Priest to make it 4-2.

Harris got the second half off to a quick start with a top corner drag flick from a short corner to make it 5-2.

T Cooke-Priest then found the back of the net to score Petersfield’s sixth goal, and Beecham made it 7-2 after the ball was passed around the forwards in the D.

A drive down the left hand-side by King, who passed to Harris, was finished off by R Plewes for the home side’s eighth goal of the afternoon.

In the last few minutes Petersfield won a final short corner, with King getting to the ball to complete the scoring for the day and make it 9-2.

Petersfield are in fifth place in the table and they will travel to the leaders, Gillingham’s second team, on Saturday.
