Petersfield II 3 Alton II 2: PETERSFIELD’S second team welcomed Alton’s second team to Dunhurst School on Saturday.

Alton started strongly and put Petersfield under a lot of pressure.

The home side won the first penalty corner of the game and Nick Budden’s shot was saved by the Alton keeper, but Budden followed up on the rebound and scored.

Petersfield started to put some pressure on Alton and were awarded a second penalty corner which was slipped to Matt Cooper who scored to make it 2-0.

Towards the end of the first half a good team move led to Cooper finding himself in front of goal with just the keeper to beat, which he did to make it 3-0 at half time.

Alton started the second half strongly and used their substitutes to put Petersfield under a lot pressure.

Petersfield missed some good chances early in the second half and soon started to tire, and Alton scored two quick goals to make it 3-2.

The home side were tiring rapidly, but Petersfield managed to hold firm for a 3-2 win.

Petersfield will travel to Yateley’s third team on Saturday, and a win will seal the league title for Petersfield.
