THE 259TH running of Queen Elizabeth Country Park Parkrun on Saturday saw 87 people run, jog and walk the course.

Twenty-three were first timers, eight recorded new personal bests and representatives from 23 running clubs took part.

The first finisher was Matt Edmonds, who crossed the line in a time of 19min 31secs.

The first woman home was Georgina Miller, who finished in 27th place overall in a time of 26min 24secs. The first junior runner was Marcus Taylor, who finished in 23rd place overall in a time of 25min 49secs.

There was an impressive milestone for the Queen Elizabeth Country Park Parkrun event when Petersfield resident Chris Smart, who runs regularly with his dog Sugi, crossed the line in eighth place. In doing so he recorded the event’s 20,000th finisher.

The event was made possible by 11 volunteers who helped out on the day – they were James Leighton, Ivor McQuaid, Jane Woodroof, Kevin McTaggart, Nicholas Woodroof, Hannah Miller, Pippa White, Peter Field, Amelia Field, Harriet White and John Roberts.
