PETERSFIELD Rugby Club’s first team head coach James Alder was pleased with the spirit his side showed in their defeat against Old Emanuel at Penns Place on Saturday.

Alder said: “The team played with a lot of spirit and hard work and deserved something from the game.

“Most of Old Emanuel’s points came off the back of our errors, either forced passes or poor handling in difficult conditions.

“The players stayed together throughout the game and made Old Emanuel earn every yard.

“They should be as proud of their performance as I am.

“We play Trojans next and we will need to start taking the opportunities that come our way if we are to remain in this league.

“The coaching staff and I are working hard to prepare the players and it will be a question of character that will make the difference with the result.”
