Andover Colts 48 Petersfield Colts 10: PETERSFIELD Colts travelled to Andover to honour a fixture despite only having 13 players injury free and available to make the trip.

Field faced a tall order against the league leaders on their home ground with a legion squad who effectively were able to rotate two teams over the period of the match.

Andover had some fast backs and utilised the space to open the score in pretty much the first few phases of play. Stung into action Field managed a sustained period of play and created a number of opportunities but somehow conspired to never quite manage to reach the try line.

Some loose tackling meant the hosts were able to score twice more, once again utilising their pacey backs.

Field retaliated with a beautifully worked interchange of prepared moves to release Blackwell to score a debut try for the team.

Good pressure and play was not sufficient however to keep Andover subdued and they ended the half 29-5 up.

In the second half Field were on the front foot and Heath finished off one of his many blistering runs to get the visitors back onto the scoreboard. Field dominated for long passages of play once again and come close to scoring on numerous occasions but critically failed to convert hard effort into points.

After weathering waves of attacks Andover were quick to exploit tired bodies and scored a brace of tries on counter attacks before also capitalising on a fortuitous bounce from a loose kick to make it 48-10 and put the score beyond Field’s reach.
