Petersfield 3rd XV 0 Andover 3rd XV 10: IN THE first half the guests were restricted to two forays into the Field 22, with the bulk of the play taking part in the Andover half.
However, the home side could not find the final play that would turn their advantage into points. Andover, meanwhile, struck at the end of the first quarter during their first visit to Field’s 22. From a penalty scrum they ran a simple move to send the inside centre through for a score under the posts.
In the second half the territory and possession bias become more even but Field’s defence held firm and Andover were restricted to taking the odd penalty, one of which found its mark. With Andover averaging nearly 40 points per game, it is a credit to the third team that they restricted the visitors’ free-scoring attack. However, the side will be disappointed knowing that they came so close to scoring themselves.
