PRIOR to the match against the Royal Navy President’s XV, Petersfield held a charity supper and raised more than £2,000, which is to be split between the Royal Navy and Royal Marines Charity and Petersfield Mayor Hilary Ayer’s chosen charity, Home-Start Butser.
In raising more than £2,000 on the night Petersfield Rugby Club set a record in raising more than £20,000 for charities in the calendar year of 2018.
Before the match the players were presented to the dignitaries, and the brass band from The Petersfield School played the National Anthem.
Proud Petersfield chairman Stuart Barden was enthused after the match.
Barden said: “What a game and what a night for the club, fantastic rugby on the park and fantastic support for us off of it. To raise £20,000 in a calendar year for other charities is a phenominal achievement.”
