PETERSFIELD coach James Alder was not a happy man at half time on Saturday but the second half performance in the 20-12 win against Overton cheered him somewhat.

“This was another scrappy performance with basic handling errors and stoppages that prevented a fluid game to develop,” said Alder.

“Today was about the result but we need to concentrate fully and be more clinical if we are to keep our own promotion push going.”

Alder also praised the strength and commitment of the Overton team who are pushing for promotion.

Silverware was one of the new coach’s goals at the beginning of his debut season at the club and getting to the final of the Hampshire Plate presents a good chance of achieving it. The final will be at Petersfield on Sunday, April 23, against Farnborough.

Attention turns back to the league on Saturday, when Petersfield will host Fareham Heathens at Penns Place.
