Petersfield Colts 91 Trojans Academy B Colts 10: PETERSFIELD Colts entertained Trojans Academy B in what proved to be an eventful league encounter.
Front foot play and fast hands opened up the away team’s defence as Field ran in seven tries in the first half.
While the forwards won the ball and drove around the park, the backs used the momentum to explore the space it provided as tries from Mackay (2), Land, Kay and Sloan enabled Field to cut free, and there were also tried by forwards Stewart and Carroll. Sloan, Land and Kay added the conversions.
Trojans scored a try of their own when they rolled over from a line out.
Field led 41-5 at half time, and they did not take their foot off of the peddle in the second half. The tries continued to arrive as Carroll picked up and ran round the away team’s defence, Sloan converting. Minutes later Clawson did exactly the same thing to touch down.
Trojans did not give up and they scored their second try when their prop drove over in the corner.
The Field backs then threw the ball around and opened up the away team’s defence at will. Constable-Chichester got in on the scoring act as Mackay added a further two tries and Land also added to his total, with Sloan and Kay adding the conversions.
Another try came when Sloan released Texaire, who ran in unopposed. Sloan added the extras.
Land’s crossfield kick was then inch perfect for Kay to collect and touch down, and Kay converted his own try.
